Although summer is winding down in many parts of the country, here in South Florida we’ve got plenty of sunny days to come. Now that peak hurricane season is hopefully behind us, it’s a great time to enjoy college and NFL football games and beautiful fall weekends with a backyard party.
A little bit of planning can have you on your way to the perfect backyard bash:
Menu: Make sure you’ve got food that all of your guests will enjoy, including those who have special dietary restrictions (gluten-free, dairy-free, vegan). Fruit and veggies are always great. A taco or chili bar can easily be tailored to both vegetarians and carnivores. Prep it early so that when it’s game time you can set everything up and relax.
Viewing Area: If you’ve already got a designated outside watching area, that’s great. But, if you’re setting up a TV outside that isn’t normally there, make sure to work out the kinks beforehand. The last thing you want is to struggle with a bad connection and miss kick-off.
Seating: Many people don’t want to sit during football games, but it’s nice to have the option just in case. Don’t be afraid to mix and match lawn chairs, beach chairs, or even blankets for seating for your guests. If you need a few extra chairs, we’ve got you covered.
Coolers: You won’t want people to have to run in and out of the house for drinks, so keep a stocked cooler nearby. You can even fill galvanized tubs with ice for a more pleasing aesthetic. Separate the adult beverages from the kids’ and keep a bottle opener and corkscrew handy.
Kids Activities: If you’re expecting children as well as adult attendees, it’s great to have some activities for them such as an inflatable bounce house or waterslides. The adults can take turns monitoring the kids while also enjoying the game.
